Flight Over the Nazca Lines
Interesting Facts: Scholars believe that the Nazca Lines were created by the Nazca culture between 400 and 650 AD. There are hundreds of individual figures ranging in complexity from simple lines to stylized. There is a hummingbird, spider, monkey, fish, shark, an orca, a parrot, dog, lizard an astronaut and others. The Nazca geoglyphs are one of the great mysteries for the archeology community. Although some local geoglyphs resemble Paracas motifs, some believe the lines served a purpose. María Reiche studied these lines for more than 50 years. She believed that these designs were an ancient astronomical calendar and the largest in the world. Another scholar Johan Reinhard said that these lines were sacred roads for ceremonies related with worshipping water and Mother Earths' fertility. Recent theories claim that the Nazca Lines are linked to groundwater channels and may be mapping them out.
Itinerary: We will pick you up at the Terminal Terrestre or at your hostal in Nazca then we will head to the Aerodromo Airport Maria Reiche where we will see an informative video about the lines. Then we will fly over the Nazca and Palpa Lines (recently discovered) for about 35 to 40 minutes. After our flight you will receive a certificate of proof that you flew over the Nazca Lines and then we will return to your hostal.
