The Islas Ballestas are somewhat popular.
Paracas - Islas Ballestas
On the way out to the Islas Ballestas we'll stop for a few minutes in the open water to take in "The Candelabra". This is a great view of it just offshore. Your guide will go over a few theories as to its significance and origin. After a brief stop in front of the Candelabra we'll continue a pleasant speedboat ride cutting through the ocean wake while a misty spray passes over until we reach Ballestas. These islands are protected and are an important sanctuary for marine fauna like the guanay guano bird, the blue-footed booby and the tendril. Other notable species include Humboldt Penguins and two varieties of seals (fur seals and sea lions), amongst other mammals. They all enjoy a life without disruption from man. You'll troll the sea-carved alcoves, float through arching caves, see where the seals and sea lions congregate and be surrounded by sea birds and a pristine habitat. We will be out on the boat long enough to get burned so bring sunblock! We'll return by speedboat to the dock in Paracas before we begin an adventure by land and to Paracas' National Reserve.
