Visit the floating islands of Uros by motor boat followed by the community of Luquina Karina on a peninsula to the south where they are fairly new to tourism but happy to welcome you. Stay a night with your new Luquina family before boating further out towards the vast Lake Titicaca and to Taquile Island.
This trip is by boat with very little to no walking. Bus transfers from your hotel or bus terminal to the port are included.

This is a pooled boat tour with a group no larger than 20 people which break up into smaller groups at Luquina.
Uros and Taquile are popular destinations in Puno.
Day 1 Uros - Luquina
The tour begins at 6:45 am, with the transfer from your hotel to the port of Puno where you will board a "lancha" motor boat to one of the 65 floating Uros Islands. Your guide will explain a little about the history and lifestyle of the people living on these floating islands. You will also have the opportunity to talk with the people of these islands and visit their homes and learn about their lifestyle. The tour will continue with a one hour boat ride to the Chucuito peninsula and the Luquina Karina community. Although tourism is new to these people, they are very willing to receive visitors. You will be paired up with local families and will accompany them to their homes where you will spend the night and given meals during your stay. The Karina community has a large white sand beach and offers activities such as fishing, kayaking and mountain biking. If you are feeling adventurous you also have the opportunity to swim in the clear but frigid 10 degree celsius water of Lake Titcaca.

Day 2 Taquile - Puno
The second day you will again go by boat to the island of Taquile where you can find "the best weavers of Peru". This island is also rich in tradition and customs which are a mix of Inca and Colonial traditions. Today, you will walk about an hour and a half to visit the main square of the island with free time to see the fabrics and craft stores. You will also visit a local family where you will have lunch before returning to Puno by boat.
